Air cooled condenser and evaporator are very important parts of refrigeration unit which condenses the high-pressure refrigerant vapor from the compressor into a liquid. During the condensation process, the heat released by the refrigerant is taken away by the air. Air can be natural convection or forced flow by fan. This type of air cooled condenser is used in freon refrigeration units where water supply is inconvenient or difficult to supply. Air cooled evaporator is also a kind of heat exchanger, which makes the low-pressure and low-temperature refrigerant liquid absorb the heat of the cooling medium (air, water, brine or other refrigerant) in the boiling process, so as to achieve the purpose of refrigeration. Air cooled condenser and evaporator are the most popular cooling units in refrigeration industry. It has the characteristics of no cooling tower installation, easy to install and remove, etc. It is suitable for water shortage or poor water quality areas.

- Air cooled condenser is a kind of condenser used air as its cooling medium. It uses fan to accelerate air flow to increase the heat transfer effect of air. Air cooled condenser does not need cooling water. It can save all the equipment needed for water supply and is easy to use and install.
- Generally, the condensation temperature is 7-12℃ higher than the ambient temperature. The value of 7-12℃ is called heat transfer temperature difference. The higher ambient and condensation temperature, the lower the cooling efficiency of the refrigeration unit, so we should control this heat transfer temperature difference not be too large.
- If the difference of heat transfer temperature is too small, the heat transfer area and circulating air volume of air cooler will be larger, and the cost of air cooler will be higher. The ambient temperature limit should not be higher than 55℃ or lower than 20℃. Normally, air cooled condensers are not recommended in areas where ambient temperatures exceed 42℃. Therefore, whether air cooled condenser is selected or not, the environmental temperature should be determined first.
